Night Skin Care Routine In Winter

Night Skin Care Routine

Hey there! Today I’m up to share my night skin care routine especially during the winter time. I emphasized enough on winter to make sure you understand the regular night skin care routine is different from that of the winter’s. It goes well in the normal days even if you skip using some of the products or some of the steps of the night skin care routine, but that’s not the case with the winters. I am a person who basically uses the most minimal products on my skin. So do not worry I don’t recommend any product that I don’t use or that I feel unnecessary.

Firstly to give you an insight about my skin and the climate in which I live – I have a normal skin, sometimes it is dry and sometimes oily depending upon the climate, generally I have a normal skin. I get acne breakouts when I use any cosmetic product that doesn’t suit my skin. So I try to check with my dermatologist when I choose any product.

I do not live in a freezing climate. The minimum temperatures that record in winters at my place are around 15 degree Celsius.

These are the steps that I follow as part of my night care routine during winters.

Cleanse:

First of all, I cleanse my face and hands with a mild soap free cleanser. I use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for my face and body. It’s hypoallergenic and sensitive on skin as it is mild and soap free. Hence it is suitable for daily use. Apply a little amount, rinse and pat-dry with a clean and soft towel. Choose any mild cleansers that don’t rip off your natural oils from the skin.

Face Serum:

As serums penetrate deep into your skin, it gives some benefits when used at the night times. Serums work great for specific concerns like wrinkles, dry skin, brightness and under eye darkness. Use a serum with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E and Retinol. You can customize according to your concern. Though I do not use a face serum daily, I rely on The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Face Serum sometimes when I feel it necessary. Tap the serum on the face gently so that it gets absorbed into the skin. Wait for a minute before applying a moisturizer.

Moisturize:

The most important step after cleansing your face is to apply a moisturizer. No matter how mild your cleanser is, your skin feels a little drier after you cleanse. If you ignore this step, wrinkles start to appear on the face within no time. Wrinkles develop on all the areas which lack hydration. Of course, the key step in winters is to moisturize well after you clean your face. So make sure you moisturize all the areas you feel dry. People who basically have dry skin should opt for deep moisturizing lotions or creams with Hyaluronic acid, Glycerine, Shea Butter and Salicylic acid as the composing ingredients.

Mix an oil like jojoba or rosehip to your moisturizer this helps to lock in your moisturizer. Avoid products that contain fragrance. They might be good to smell but they don’t do any good to your skin.

Eye Cream:

Use an under eye cream or serum to treat the appearance of dark circles. Do not apply the eye creams or serums to the entire face as they are intended to be absorbed by the skin under the eye. When applied to the entire face it might result in breakouts. One of the best ingredients to look for while choosing an eye cream is Vitamin C. Retinol, Vitamin E, Vitamin A derivative works to boost collagen which helps in treating the dark circles.

Lip Balm:

Applying a lip balm everyday is a must. The skin on your lips is more sensitive than your face and hence they easily become chapped and dry. Drinking a lot of water in winters is necessary though you don’t feel thirsty. This helps you feel hydrated from inside. I usually use lip balms from Nivea, Forest Essentials, The Body Shop, Neutrogena and Laneige. When you apply on the day time make sure it has SPF which protects your lips from UV rays and pollution. So you can end your night care routine by applying a lip balm.

Spend 5-10 minutes everyday and make sure you use natural face packs to develop hydration externally. Drink different kinds of liquids like butter milk, water and juices to hydrate well yourself from within. The key to happy living is to eat light and stay hydrated. Stay Safe!
