The Met Gala 2022 theme is ā In America: An Anthologyā. The Met gala is also very prominently known as the Met ball. This is a fundraising event for the benefits of Metropolitan Museum of Art and Costume Institute. The Met Gala event takes place on the first Monday of May every year.
This was established in 1948 by Eleanor Lambert to raise money for the new costume institute. The first gala was a dinner and the tickets were $50.00. Later on Gala was widely recognised as one of the exclusive social events in the world. The exhibition runs for months, for example from May – August.
Due to covid-19 Met Gala 2021 was cancelled. The Costume Institute declared that the gala meet will happen in 2 parts. One in Sep 2021 and the second one in May 2022.
Met Gala Theme
Every year there is a theme that matches the event. It has a cocktail hour and a formal dinner. During the cocktail hour guests walk on the red carpet and be seated at dining hour.
The first part theme is in america: a lexicon of fashion. The second part theme for the Met Gala in 2022 is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” This second installation by Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of the Costume Institute, is based on a two-part display from the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It focuses on the tenets of American style and honours the unknown and unsung heroes of American design.
Visitors have been writing the museum with fresh ideas for terms to contribute to the lexicon since the launch of part one, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” in September 2021. “They’re really into the exhibition concept, which is this kind of new language for American fashion.” “It’s been a lot of fun,” Bolton says of the first portion, “In America: An Anthology.”

According to the reports Met Gala 2022 will start from May 2nd 2022.
The upcoming event features historic and modern dress of young people who are dating. The next year’s gala theme will probably be ā American Fashion Themeā but in a more significant way.
The stories here really reflect the elaboration of American style, but they also explore the work of individual sewers, dress-makers, and contestation,ā says Bolton. It seems like some of the names will be truly familiar to scholars of fashion like Charles James, Halston, and Oscar de la Renta, but a lot of the other names really have been forgotten, overlooked or neglected into the notes of fashion history. So one of the main intentions of the exhibition is to spotlight the bents and contributions of these individualities.

This year’s gala hosts will be Amanda Gorman who is US Presidential inaugural poet at the age of 23. Dune Actor TimothĆ©e Chalamet,Naomi Osaka. Anna Wintour, Billie Eilish, Adam Mosseri and Tom Ford.
