The waterfall is about 310 meters high and is a four-tiered waterfall. Dudhsagar is also one of the tallest waterfalls in India and is surrounded by Western Ghats. It is a popular tourist attraction in Goa and is often visited by nature lovers, photographers, and trekkers

The waterfall is best seen during the monsoon season when the water is in full flow. However, it is also worth visiting during the dry season as the surrounding area is full of lush green foliage. How to reach there?

There are many ways to reach the falls, but the most popular way is by trekking. The trek to the falls is about 4 miles long and can be quite challenging, but the views are definitely worth it.

You can find trekking groups online who organize trekking events in different batches round the year.

There are two ways to start a trek. Either you can kick start from Kulem railway station(Goa) which is the most comfortable option for Mumbai, Pune people or you can start the trek from Castle rock railway station(Karnataka Goa Border) which is a convenient option for Bangalore side people.

To reach Dudhsagar waterfalls, you can also take a train from Mumbai or Pune to Madgaon railway station. Further, you have to take a passenger train to Kulem from Madgaon, Goa. The frequency of Madgaon – Kulem passengers is less. You can take a bus or taxi to the falls from Madgaon. The journey takes about 5 hours

Best time to visit Dudhsagar Falls

The best time to visit Dudhsagar waterfalls is during the monsoon season, from June to September. This is when the waterfalls are at their fullest and most spectacular. If you can’t make it during the monsoon season, the next best time to visit is during the winter months, from December to February

Tips to trek Dudhsagar Falls

The Dudhsagar trek is 14 km long(One way- from Kulem) that takes around 6-7 hours, passing through the dense forest and walking through the railway tracks.When you witness the huge water cascade for the first time, you will be amazed to see such a magnificent view, and the natural beauty surrounding it is just commendable. So it is worth the trek.

If you’re planning on trekking to Dudhsagar, here are a few tips to help you make the most of your trip:

  • Start your trek early in the morning so you can reach the falls before noon. The heat can be intense after noon, and trekking can become difficult when it is hot.
  • Carry plenty of water and snacks with you, as there are no shops along the trek.
  • Bring your own tent.
  • Wear good shoes and clothes that can get wet, as you will likely get wet during the trek.
  • Buy a life jacket on rent. 
  • Be prepared for a challenging trek. You can follow google maps to reach the waterfalls

  • Tents – If you don’t stay at any Resort
  • Torch with extra batteries
  • Extra Clothes

  • Food and stuff like paper cups, paper plates and spoons
  • News Papers
  • Knife
  • Odomos mosquito repellent cream

Dudhsagar waterfalls are a part of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. The Jeep Safari is the best activity to do here for wildlife enthusiasts. The core area of the sanctuary was named as Mollem National Park.
